Compassion Stories
When Medicine is Available
CompassioNow began supporting the Primary Health Care Center (PHCC) in Lietnhom, South Sudan, in the spring of 2019. In the second quarter of 2019, 512 patients came to the PHCC seeking medical care. By the end of the fourth quarter, that number jumped to 1613 patients for a grand total of 3665 patients served in 2019!
Because word has gotten around the area that the PHCC in Lietnhom, South Sudan, has a consistent supply of medicines, people are flocking to the care center for aid. The purple bag in the photos to the right is full of medical supplies carried to South Sudan by friends of CompassioNow. The supplies inside were procured by CompassioNow to stock the shelves at the PHCC. The medicines and supplies were used to treat malaria, pneumonia, ulcers, typhoid, and skin diseases along with physical injuries. By the end of 2019, 80% of the supplies provided by CompassioNow were used already!
Meanwhile, ALARM staff has held twice weekly devotionals at the clinic. The devotionals also include trauma healing lessons. And the results are astonishing. Nearly 9000 people have heard the word of God and have been introduced to the love of Jesus through these devotions. The staff has noticed that many community members are attending the clinic devotions even when they aren't patients.
This month, CompassioNow also provided the funds for a number of benches and chairs to be built as seating for the patients. Next up, providing beds for the patients! Praise God for the life-changing work in South Sudan!
